What is fire protection insulation?
Technical fire protection protects people, installations and buildings from the spread of fire and smoke. By using certified fire protection systems we make sure that fires cannot spread further via pipework, ventilation ducts or cable penetrations.
Our main areas of work are fire wall penetrations and fire wall crossings for insulated and uninsulated pipework as well as cable penetrations. At every intersection between rooms the fire protection has to be continuous. What matters is the interaction between pipe insulation and penetration seal system, so that the fire protection class and hygiene requirements are met at the same time and the structural details remain tight and verifiable even years later.
Since 1984 we have been carrying out fire protection insulation for industry, plant engineering, the food industry and energy generation. Trained staff know the legal regulations of the individual federal states, from selecting the right insulation materials to professional execution. In fire protection every detail counts: we work thoroughly, document cleanly and deliver work that stands up to inspection.
Where is fire protection used?
Fire wall penetrations for pipework: wherever insulated or uninsulated pipes cross a fire wall, the fire compartment has to be preserved. We install certified penetration seal systems that suit the pipe type, the medium temperature and the fire protection class of the wall, and we document the work for audits and building acceptance.
Fire wall crossings: pipework, ventilation ducts and runs that are led through or over fire walls. Here we combine structural sealing with the adjoining pipe insulation into a continuous solution that works cleanly both thermally and in the event of fire.
Cable penetration seals and cable ducts: power cables, data lines and measuring lines are routed through multiple penetration seal systems in such a way that no smoke or fire can spread along the runs in the event of fire. We use certified combination systems and coordinate the work with the electrical planning.
Industry and food production: the sites differ, and often so do the requirements. In food production the fire penetration seal and the hygienic cladding have to work together. We know the requirements and carry out the work during ongoing operation wherever possible.
Safety is the top priority: we install DIN-compliant fire protection insulation systems and non-combustible components of the highest protection classes. Our qualified specialist staff ensure the legally sound sealing of fire compartments and the protection of critical infrastructure, for example cable runs and control lines.

Insulation materials & products
In technical fire protection we rely on certified systems from recognised manufacturers: foam insulation, mineral wool fire protection boards, fire protection mortar and combination penetration seal systems for multiple penetrations. Every material carries a test certificate; we combine them into continuous solutions.
Cladding in the fire protection area is done with steel or stainless steel sheet — robust, tight and dimensionally stable in the event of fire. Where required we manufacture the cladding parts in our own V2A/V4A prefabrication, so that the transitions to the normal pipe insulation are cleanly documented.
Our execution follows the recognised standards of the industry: AGI work sheets for technical insulation, the EU standard WKSB and the respective state building regulations. Where additional food standards apply, we take those requirements into account as well.
The choice of material depends on the pipe type, the medium temperature, the wall construction and the required fire protection class. We advise on penetration seal systems that suit the building situation. In doing so we work with established manufacturers; data sheets, classifications and test certificates are provided on request. In fire protection, standard goods from wholesale are not enough. We use certified systems.

Which requirements apply depends on the federal state, the use of the building and the fire compartment class.
A fire wall penetration is the approved and certified point at which pipework or cables cross a fire wall. In the event of fire it seals the fire compartment so that neither fire nor smoke reaches the adjoining area. Without it, the fire wall would be pointless.

In most cases, yes. Fire penetration seals and penetrations can often be renewed or supplemented without shutting the installation down. For critical runs we agree the working windows with you in advance.
