Technical insulation of industrial pipework with a stainless steel jacket on a plant roof area, carried out by IVS Isoliertechnik

Industries of technical insulation

Since 1984 IVS has been insulating installations for the most varied industries, from food production and breweries through logistics centres and biogas plants to maritime refrigeration technology. Based in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, working throughout Germany.

Our industries

Eight typical industries form the focus of our work. Click through to find out which requirements apply particularly to your sector and which insulation solutions have proven themselves in practice.

  • Plant engineering

Prefabricated insulation systems for modules, skids and complete plants, straight from the IVS workshop in Malchin. V2A and V4A stainless steel cladding fitted precisely to your design and delivered ready for installation on schedule.

  • Beverage industry & breweries

Hygienic insulation for the brewhouse, lager cellar and CO₂ recovery, cleanable V2A cladding surfaces and stable process temperatures at full energy efficiency.

  • Dairy processing

Condensation-free insulation systems for CIP plants, pasteurisers and storage tanks. Cleanable V4A execution to HACCP requirements, feasible during ongoing dairy operation.

  • Food processing

HACCP-compliant insulation for meat, fish, bakery and deep-freeze production. Stainless steel jackets in V2A or V4A, hygienically closed and ready for audits.

  • Fuel installations (modular construction)

Technical insulation for modules, skids, pipework and units: thermal, fire and acoustic protection with our own sheet metal prefabrication.

  • Logistics & cold storage centres

Energy efficiency and active fire protection for cold stores and logistics centres.

  • Biogas plants

Thermal, fire protection and acoustic insulation for digesters, vessels, pipework and CHP components – planned on a project basis and executed to withstand the weather.

  • Chemical industry

Acid- and alkali-resistant V4A insulation for reactors, columns and heat exchangers. Fire protection cladding F30-F120 to certified systems, documented for audits and authorities.

Every industry has its own requirements

What a brewery needs is not the same as what a deep-freeze centre or a biogas plant needs. Temperatures differ, and so do the hygiene regulations, the choice of material and the occupational safety requirements. Anyone selling technical insulation as a standard solution is overlooking exactly these differences.

Since 1984 IVS has been carrying out insulation for the most varied industries. The spectrum ranges from food and beverage production through plant engineering and logistics centres to specialised applications in biogas, modular construction and maritime refrigeration technology. This breadth gives us deep industry experience that feeds into the planning of every new enquiry.

Our toolbox covers all four disciplines of technical insulation: thermal, cold, acoustic and fire protection. Added to that is our PUR high-pressure foaming, a speciality since 1990, and our own V2A/V4A stainless steel prefabrication for hygienically demanding applications since 2014.

We do not see industry insulation as a pure question of material, but as the interplay of understanding the processes, knowing the regulations and executing precisely. That is exactly why our clients usually work with us over many years.

Some projects start with a simple question: can this installation be insulated at all without stopping production? Others start with an audit finding: surface temperatures too high, vapour barriers leaking, fire protection out of date. We know both starting points and work through them with a clear plan that takes the reality of the industry into account and respects your budget.

What the industries have in common

Energy efficiency: every industry that uses heat or cold loses money without professional insulation. An economical insulation thickness calculation shows the savings potential. On industrial installations, investments in thermal and cold insulation often pay for themselves within a few years. We supply the calculation as part of the planning. The lambda values of the insulation materials, medium temperatures, ambient conditions and the required surface temperature all feed into it. You receive an economically optimal insulation thickness — not too thin, but exactly matched to the energy saving target you want. The result then becomes visible in every energy bill.

Hygiene & cleanliness: food, dairy, brewery and fish processing have to meet hygiene requirements that go far beyond regular industrial standards. Here we use stainless steel cladding parts in V2A or V4A, straight from our own prefabrication, without middlemen, delivered to the site ready for installation. Joints are sealed tightly and valves, flanges and connections are finished to hygienic standards. The result is a continuously cleanable surface that meets HACCP requirements and still does its job years later. For extensions we fit new cladding parts precisely to the existing geometry, so the cladding system stays consistent over time.

Fire protection and occupational safety: fire wall penetrations, surface temperatures and noise limits are not an industry choice but an obligation. We use certified fire protection systems, comply with the occupational safety requirements for surface temperature and reduce noise directly at the source, before it spreads along pipe runs and machines. Every fire wall penetration is documented: the system used, the test certificate, the position in the building. For acoustic measures we first analyse the source and its frequency spectrum, then choose the right material: a measure that does not merely mask the problem but solves it for good.

Economy & deadlines: in every industry the same applies — no production downtime longer than necessary, no expensive rework, no surprises at acceptance. With on-site surveying, prefabrication in Malchin and installation by our well-practised teams from a single source, we make sure the insulation fits, on schedule and ready for inspection. Our mobile surveying system transfers data directly from the site into prefabrication, so that cladding parts in V2A or V4A are already being produced in parallel while we are still measuring the next component. For extensions or modernisations we work during ongoing operation on request, so that your production is not interrupted.

Standards and rules of technical insulation

Technical insulation follows clear standards. We work to the recognised requirements of the industry: the AGI work sheets for technical insulation in plant engineering, the EU standard WKSB for thermal, cold, acoustic and fire protection insulation, and the recommendations of the Fördergemeinschaft Dämmtechnik for in-situ PUR foam.

DIN 18421 applies to the surveying and invoicing of insulation work. We record our measurements digitally, transfer the data to prefabrication via a mobile system and document every item for acceptance.

Industry-specific regulations are added to that: in food production, HACCP requirements for hygiene and material purity have to be met; in fire protection, the state building regulations and the LAR (German directive on service installations) apply; for noise protection at the workplace, the requirements of the German workplace ordinance (ArbStättV) come into play.

We document every construction phase cleanly: the materials used with data sheets, insulation thickness calculations, test certificates for fire protection systems and the final handover documentation for audits, building acceptance and your company’s energy management.

Behind it all are our people: qualified WKSB insulators, design mechanics for sheet metal prefabrication and our own trained PUR foaming specialists. That is how we make sure the standards do not just exist on paper but work in practice.

What our customers say

Voices from clients in various industries: food, logistics, plant engineering and industry.

  • IVS manufactured several covers for our fire station, among them covers for radiators and equipment. In terms of surveying, execution, manufacturing and the final appearance the result is outstanding. Thank you for that on behalf of the Kummerow lakeside community. Genuine craftsmanship still exists here.
